Fire brigades will bounce back after callous thieves break into two local fire stations

The Riddells Creek Fire Brigade and Bolinda Monegeetta Fire Brigade woke to the horror news this morning that their fire stations had been broken into and ransacked overnight.

The Riddells Creek brigade’s four wheel drive control vehicle was among a number of items stolen from the building in the early hours of Sunday morning. Thieves managed to escape with a number of items of equipment and unfortunately the vehicle, valued at around $60,000, was later found as a burnt out wreck near Melton at around 6.15am.

Victoria Police quickly established a crime scene at the fire station and spent the afternoon investigating not only this scene, but also the scene of the Bolinda-Monageetta fire station. The news comes only a few months after the nearby Darraweit Guim fire station was burgled in a similar fashion.

CFA and Victoria police really need your help now. If you saw anything suspicious, please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
