Residents of Riddells Creek and surrounding districts are invited to attend a Dawn Service this Anzac Day, following the outstanding response and attendance numbers we witnessed at previous commemorative services in 2015 and 2016.
The service will take place at the War Memorial Gates, adjacent to the northern end of the Riddells Creek Primary School, on Tuesday 25th April. People attending the service are asked to be assembled by 5.45am for the service to commence at 6am Sharp.
“The fire brigade has received a great deal of support from the local Riddells Creek community during the past few years and offering to host a Dawn Service was one of the ways we can say thank you to the township” said Dawn Ciechomski, a resident of Riddells Creek and fire-fighter at the Riddells Creek Fire Brigade.
“Members of the public are encouraged to lay a wreath, flowers, poppy or a sprig of rosemary as a mark of remembrance” said Dawn.
There will be a short address, followed by laying of wreaths, the Ode of Remembrance then the playing of the Last Post and Reveille. The Service will conclude with the playing of the National anthems of Australia and New Zealand.
At the conclusion of the service, all attendees will be welcome back to the fire station to enjoy a “Gun Fire Breakfast” – all for the low price of a gold coin donation.
