At approximately 12:20pm the Riddells Creek, Romsey and Bolinda/Monegeetta brigades were responded to a grass fire in the vicinity of Mt Eliza road, Kerrie. Upon travelling to the fire it was quickly realised further assistance would be required and further brigades were called for.
Additional firefighting crews from Clarkefield, Gisborne, Sunbury, Lancefield, Springfield, Macedon, Mt Macedon, Newham, Hesket-Kerrie, Malmsbury and crews from Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMV) were responded to the fire.
In total 20 CFA, 6 FFMV including a D9 dozer and Ambulance Victoria vehicles attended the fire. The fire was brought under control within an hour through the efforts of the crews as it spread from the grass into the bush land.
Firefighters from the Riddells Creek Fire Brigade visited the scene of the fire again the following morning to extinguish some logs which had reignited overnight and attended further times throughout the day to monitor the scene.
