Grass Fire Sunbury

Grass Fire Sunbury

At 4.45pm this afternoon the Riddells Creek Fire Brigade was one of many fire brigades that responded to a grass fire near Harker Street in Sunbury. Firefighters from Sunbury, Riddells Creek, Diggers Rest, Bulla, Clarkefield, Wildwood and Gisborne made up the initial firefighting force, along with 2 fire trucks from the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB).

A skycrane helicopter and 3 ‘ultralight’ fire trucks from Doreen, Wildwood and Toolern Vale also joined the firefighting effort, especially to overcome the difficult terrain.

A specialised rehabilitation unit from the Mernda Fire Brigade joined Ambulance Victoria crews at the scene to treat and monitor the heat effects on those fighting the fire.
